A little bit of history:

The original castle dates back to the 11th century; its present form dates from the 13th and 15th century. The castle originally had four towers. One tower was destroyed during the Revolution, the debris was later used to fill the moat. This tower was part of Château de la Preuille and served as a residence for the lord of the castle and his family.
